Roti maker- It combines 3 functions first of rolling board (Chakla), second of rolling pin (Belan), and third of the griddle (Tava).

How does roti maker works- Put a ball of the dough (Aata) press the handle and it will roll out. Now the heat elements will start cooking. You may even cook the roti keeping the cover open to puff the roti.

Time- A good roti maker should cook chapatti in a minute’s time or even less. Make sure you take a demo before purchasing the roti maker.

Outer cover- Stainless steel outer covers are recommended.

Indicator light - An indicator light is needed to know when the griddle is sufficiently hot to cook.

Griddle size- Normally the roti maker available in the market has 8 inches griddle but if you like large sized Punjabi paratha I would recommend you go for 10 inches griddle.

Please keep the following factors in mind while purchasing a roti maker:

Heating Elements- Make sure the roti maker you choose has heating elements on both the sides, top as well as bottom.

Thermostat- It is one very important feature to look for as it will stop the roti maker’s function if it gets too hot.

Coating- I would recommend a roti maker with Teflon coating otherwise the roti may stick to the interior while cooking.

Other factors that might help you in making the informed purchase:

Price: Roti maker ranges from INR 999 to INR 2200, for more details please check out the following links:

Power supply: Roti maker typically requires power supply of 110V A/C to 230V A/C, make sure you check with your dealer or read the manual carefully to avoid any short circuit.

Extra protection: There are roti makers available in the market with extra protection of thermo fuse, which works in case of thermostat failure. Like Jaipan Roti Maker.

Warranty- It is always recommended to buy electronic products with at least 1 year warranty.
